Jimmy was born in Jersey City, New Jersey to Puerto Rican parents. He started playing trombone at 6 years of age and started performing in New Jersey & NYC at 11 years of age. By age 13 he was playing in several local Latin bands, “La Caliente”, “Arco Iris”, “La Sonica.”
Jimmy went on to study Classical Music at Rutgers University after which he met Manny Oquendo and joined his band.
He has worked & toured numerous times with Salsa Legends Manny Orquendo, Ray Barretto & Cachao
Jimmy has also toured around the world and recorded with FANIA, Eddie Palmieri, Ruben Blades, Tipica Novel, Combinacion Perfecta, Pete El Conde Rodriguez, to name but a few.
In 1996 he founded his own band “La Orquesta Jimmy Bosch” and to date has recorded four albums as a solo artist.
The new generation of Salsa bands & musicians are calling on Jimmys’ talent and he features regularly on new productions. To date he is featured on well over 100 recordings.
Jimmy finds himself being one of the few Original Legends of the 1970s Salsa generation of Musicians, and so is in demand for his musical back catalogue. He is now also recognised as an ambassador to the new generation of Musicians and Dancers due to his amazing wealth of knowledge and experience from the golden age of the NYC live music Salsa scene.
Jimmy continues to tour as a solo artist and band leader imparting his years of experience with musicians all over the world. “La Orquesta Jimmy Bosch” and Jimmy Bosch y su Sexteto de Otro Mundo” continues to tour globally
